The Texas Hill Country, most notably the Kerrville area, is starting to heal in many ways. The devastation from the flood was impactful for people as many lives were lost, but what also needs to be mentioned is the loss of wildlife habitat. In recent months, I have witnessed the reemergence of many bird species to the area, including the different Kingfisher species. They build tunnels in the banks along the river so they can nest and reproduce. Hawks and Kestrels have also been seen in abundance as of late indicating a wildlife revival.
